Mar 17, 2021
The Sturgeon Uzbekistan Growth Equity Fund (SUGEF) is focussed on investing in early-stage technology companies solving the key issues that affect the day-to-day lives of businesses and consumers in Uzbekistan. To date it has made six investments, with a particular focus on marketplaces and business software solutions, and the opportunities to overlay financial services and fintech with these models. SUGEF is committed to profit with a purpose, and aims to support half a million jobs through its portfolio companies while delivering 5x return for investors.
Bobir: “Being native to Uzbekistan I always wanted to be involved in the Uzbek tech industry but unfortunately for a very long time it was closed for outside investments. I am joining Sturgeon Capital because we have similar views on the untapped but rapidly emerging market of Uzbekistan.”
Sturgeon CIO Kiyan Zandiyeh: “We’re pleased to announce that Bobir will be joining the advisory board of our dedicated Uzbekistan fund. Given our focus on investing and backing entrepreneurs within Uzbekistan’s technology eco-system, Bobir’s experience and success as an Uzbek entrepreneur in a range of different businesses will be invaluable to both our portfolio companies and our fund.”
