Clemente Cappello is Founder and CEO of Sturgeon Capital. He has a 12 year continuous track record of investing in the New Silk Road region and has developed an intimate knowledge of the investment universe across all of the strategies employed. Clemente holds a degree in Business Administration and Finance from Bocconi University. Before founding Sturgeon he worked as an analyst for Haussmann Holdings. Clemente was awarded ‘Rising Star of Hedge Funds’ in 2008 by Institutional Investor and has been quoted by the Financial Times, New York Times, Bloomberg, Fox News and other media outlets as an expert on investments on the Silk Road.
Kiyan Zandiyeh is the Portfolio Manager for the Sturgeon Iran Fund. Prior to joining the firm Kiyan was Head of Emerging Markets at Roubini Global Economics where he focused advising on equity strategy in the region. He previously worked at the London Stock Exchange and a number of equity funds. He travels to Iran at least once a month, where he maintains an extensive network of contacts at companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange across a range of sectors. He is a graduate of Imperial College Business School.
Ariane Gordji is Head of Business Development and Investor Relations at Sturgeon. Prior to joining, she was Business Development Manager at Stenham Asset Management and Liongate Capital Management where she focused on institutional relationships in Switzerland and the UK. Previously she worked at HSBC Private Bank as Business Development Executive in Dubai and London. Ariane has 10 years of experience in the industry. She graduated from University College London and holds the Investment Management Certificate.
Lanna Gregory joined Sturgeon Capital in February 2013 dealing with operations, back office and human resources. She previously worked for the Financial Services Compensation Scheme as part of the Investment Claims Team. Lanna has worked for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, where she was responsible for operations reports and general administration. Lanna holds an MBA from Imperial College, London with a concentration in Investment Management.
Rustam is a Senior Analyst at Sturgeon Capital. He has 8 years of experience in investing in Global Emerging Markets consistently achieving strong performance. He previously worked at Gazprombank Asset Management in Moscow and Deka Investment in Frankfurt as Equity Portfolio Manager. Rustam holds a Master Degree from University of Münster, Germany. Rustam is fluent in Russian, Lithuanian, German and English.
Robin joined the team at Sturgeon in August 2018. He graduated from Exeter University in 2016 with a First Class degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern History, before moving out to Iran to study Farsi. He has travelled extensively in the Middle East and Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkey. Previously Robin worked as an M&A analyst at Arjan Capital Ltd. Having passed the Level I CFA exam in June 2018, he will be sitting Level II in 2019
